Very disappointed with their services, rather than support they took down everything that happened to me, and promised to keep in contact and then totally stopped responding to me. Why offer support if you’re going to leave victims in even worser conditions?
I would like to sincerely thank Southall Black Sisters for the support and guidance they provided to me during a very difficult time in my life. The organisation was very helpful, understanding, and supportive throughout my case. I would especially like to thank Lisa for her kindness, patience, and dedication. She listened to my concerns carefully, explained things clearly, and always treated me with respect and compassion. Her support gave me confidence and helped me feel that I was not alone. I truly appreciate the time and effort Lisa and the whole team at Southall Black Sisters put into helping me. Their work is extremely valuable, and I would highly recommend this organisation to anyone who needs support and guidance. Thank you once again for everything you have done for me.
★★★★★ I was referred to Southall Black Sisters during an emergency, and I’m really grateful for the support I received. It’s true that it can be hard to get through on the phone, and I understand why some people feel frustrated. But that reflects the reality, there are many women facing serious abusive situations and trying to access help at the same time. The demand is high. That said, when I finally got through, I spoke to someone who was incredibly empathetic, patient, and understanding. In that moment, I didn’t just need advice, I needed someone to really listen, and she did. That made a real difference. They also pointed me in the right direction with next steps, which I really appreciated. I’m thankful I reached them when I did.
SBS saved me from honour killing threats made by my family. i’m glad to not be another statistic. Thank you endlessly for your work 🌷
This has been one of the most disappointing and distressing experiences I have ever had with an organisation that claims to provide support. I was promised help with housing and was told that in order to receive assistance, I had to disclose highly personal and confidential details about my life. Despite how emotionally difficult and traumatic it was, I was pressured into sharing everything that had happened to me. Reliving those experiences caused severe distress and even led to hospitalisation. After going through all of this, after being made to feel that this process was necessary and that support would follow, I was ultimately told that nothing could be done. This is not just unprofessional — it is deeply unethical. Forcing someone to reopen trauma under the promise of help, only to withdraw support afterwards, is a form of emotional harm and, in my opinion, a kind of abuse. I strongly advise others to be cautious. This organisation did not provide the support it promised, and instead caused further harm during an already vulnerable time.
